On this site you will find many spectacular virtuoso Concert Pieces and Lollipops for the Solo, Unaccompanied Performer. Some are quite dazzling; some are sweet and even tender. All are intended to bring great enjoyment to you, the Player, and much pleasure and even wonderment to your Listeners – “How on Earth does he do that?”
Many involve the unusual approach of Multiphonics, where you play a note while at the same time humming a second, accompanying tone. Listen to the various pull-down menus to hear the mp3 sounds.
Overall, many of the pieces can be rated as ‘Difficult’. Some, like the Sonatas or Variations on a Theme of Paganini are indeed ‘Very Difficult’. But (hopefully) all are enjoyable and a pleasure to play. In PDF musical format, they are available for various solo instruments. Some of them come with embedded mp3 audio files that can be played through your computer speakers.
They are not to be considered only as front-room studies when you have no accompanist; most are indeed front-line concert pieces. In particular, the Wind In The Wood set of some 46 lollipops are great fun and will be very well received.
Originally I am an Oboist and Recorder player. But an injury to one hand led to my taking up the French Horn, see the Five Multiphonic Sonatas For French Horn, and writing several items for the Recorder using only one hand. See my Sonatas for Recorder One-Hand, as well as several lollipops in Wind In The Wood.
You may find interesting comments in the section on Disabled Players, where as a Therapist I also discuss some medical matters of interest to musicians.
While you’re on this site, I also draw your attention to my other lifelong passion, Martial Arts and Personal Protection. Just follow the link if you are interested.
This is a large and possibly somewhat complicated site. Browse around, take your time, and listen to the mp3 audios. I suggest you download the various Recorder and French Horn free items. Download times may be long-ish, but well worth it.
PS: Your feedback, advice, criticisms, whatever, are most welcome.
