Once upon a Tyme …There were Magicks in the Wood Op 4
Presented here as the version for Bassoon. But available for
Recorder, Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Saxophone or French Horn.

This is a ‘Mystery’ suite, with thirteen movements, and makes a spectacular Concert Presentation for the solo instrument. At public performance it will assuredly bring the House down!
Technically it can be classed as 'difficult' with extended use of multiphonics, especially the last set of variations – ‘Here Grows a Great Oak Tree’, suggesting progression from Acorn to the Great Oak Tree itself.
The thirteen movements comprise: Spirit of the Woods, A Tyme that was, Panacity – a Woodland Sprite, Idyll, The Secret Glade, Wills O’The Wisp 1 and 2, Dancing In The Trees, The Faun, and Here Grows A Great Oak Tree (4).
I have to confess, this suite is a favourite of mine – Enjoy!
